As a school administrator in COETAIL, I have greatly appreciated being able to apply my learning to my work, even though I’m not in a classroom. In addition, I have found COETAIL to be transformative in numerous aspects of my role of Director of Teaching & Learning at my school.

Some of these include:

  • Facilitating professional learning experiences
  • Connecting educators for global collaboration
  • Connecting educators (and students) with content experts
  • Organizing professional resources
  • Presenting to faculty and parents
  • Collaborating with educators across the globe

The SAMR model is designed for instruction, but I see aspects of the core conceptsย (redefinition, modification, augmentation, & substitution) that are applicable to school leadership.

Perhaps it’s time for a little remixing and the creation of a new model that combines SAMR and ISTE Standards for Administrators.

Let me know if you are interested in collaborating with me!

  1. Hi Shary

This sounds like a very timely project! I don’t think it’s been done before, and I wonder why?!

I’d love to see what you and your group come up with. I can be an extra set of eyes to take a look & give some humble feedback ๐Ÿ™‚

Have you thought about turning this into your Coetail Final Project, or are you already in the middle of it?

    1. Hi Vivian,

Thanks very much for helping to get the word out; I’m hoping to collaborate with a couple of folks, if possible.

I’ve been working on my final project and have come to this place — seeing a need to experiment with combining SAMR and the ISTE Leadership Standards.

It would be great to have your feedback; thanks very much for offering!
I’ll send something your way in the next week or so.

  2. This sounds really interesting Shary! I’m a COETAIL alum & currently working on my MEd in School Tech Leadership – if you’re not looking for only current COETAILers I’d love to collaborate! If you’re hoping to stick with current COETAILers I’d be interested to see what you come up with. ๐Ÿ™‚
